From Mon Crime to Mon Scream is just one step away! The 6th installment of the horror saga takes second place on its first day in France, losing to Francois Ozon’s new film. With 82,0004 admissions, Mon Crime is ahead of Scream 6 and its 76,914 viewers.
This new opus of the Ghostface murders is starting twice as well as the previous installment, which was released in January 2022 (34,201 hits). In comparison, Part 3 started with 264,000 horror fans, while Episode 4 attracted 109,000 people on its first day.
However, we don’t have opening figures for the first two films in the saga, which ended their run in France with 2.2 and 2.1 million tickets sold.
As for François Ozon, he’s blowing away the score of his previous feature Peter von Kant, which only drew 14,000 curious people when it opened on July 6, 2022.
Mon Crime is the filmmaker’s best debut since 2010’s Potiche (110,000 admissions). Her record remains 2002’s 8 Women’s Day One (170,000 tickets pulled). On step 3 of the podium, the Whale, ridden by Brendan Fraser, peaked at over 7,000 entries.
