Santos beat Iguatu-CE 3-0 on Thursday evening, in Vila Belmiro, in the second phase of the Copa do Brasil. Coach Odair Hellmann took advantage of the press conference to praise the Ceará club. The captain, among other things, took the opportunity to talk to the coaching staff and rival players after the final whistle.
“I’ll start by praising the opponents who tried to play football, didn’t stop trying the offer they had in mind, even with all the difficulties. They tried, they didn’t go for aggression, I know how difficult it is. They did everything to follow the path,” he said.
“I congratulate them on their work, may their path be lucky. I told them. I congratulated them on their protest and the way they came here,” he added.
In the next phase of the Copa do Brasil, Santos’ opponent will be defined by drawing lots. There is still no fixed date for the clashes either, but the CBF has reserved April 12 (first leg) and April 26 (return) for Série B, Copa do Nordeste and Copa Verde.
Now, Peixe will have almost a month without games. The club only returns to the field in early April when the 2023 Copa Sudamericana begins.
