The first Scream serial killer was inspired by a real American serial killer: Danny Rowling, nicknamed “The Gainesville Ripper”. He was convicted and sentenced to death for the triple murder of a family in 1989 and the 1990 murders of five college students in Gainesville, Florida.

The directors are back
Scream VI is directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpini and Tyler Gillette, already at the helm of Scream (2022), which is a direct sequel to this new opus. The duo made a strong impression in 2019 with Wedding Nightmare, a horror film in which a bride’s wedding night turns into a nightmare when her groom asks her to honor a bloody tradition.

A profitable franchise
Initiated by Wes Craven in 1996, the Scream saga has so far grossed $744 million worldwide. Scream grossed 173 million, Scream 2,172, Scream 3,162, Scream 4 96 and Scream (2022) 139.
Commercial success is all the more solid because the films were not very expensive. Thus, Scream was made for 14 million, Scream 2 24, Scream 3 40, Scream 4 40 and Scream (2022) 24. Scream VI’s budget is 35 million dollars.
Ghostface’s voice is back
Roger Jackson once again voices the fearsome killer in his original version. He served on all saga opus. On the French dubbing side, Emmanuel Courtil provided the voice of Ghostface in the first Scream, Boris Rellinger in its sequel, and Loïc Houdré in Scream 3, 4, 5 and 6.

Prior to Scream VI, nine actors had portrayed the terrifying Ghostface. In the first installment, two high school students Billy Loomis (Skeet Ulrich) and Stu Macher (Matthew Lillard) wreak havoc in Woodsboro. In Scream 2, the vengeful Mrs. Loomis (Laurie Metcalf) and deranged student Mickey Altieri (Timothy Olyphant) wield a knife.
In the third installment, the murderous filmmaker Roman Bridger (Scott Foley) dons a mask. In Scream 4, Sidney’s younger cousin Jill (Emma Roberts) and her accomplice Charlie (Rory Culkin) hunt down a killer. Finally, in Scream (2022), it’s Amber Freeman (Mike Madison) and Richie Kirsch (Jack Quaid) who make the blood flow.
