‘Young Sheldon’ could come to an end in season 7

In the middle of season 6 and with a season 7 already confirmed, it is inevitable that there will be talk of the end of a prequel that lasts longer than expected.

The spin-off of ‘Big Bang Theory’, ‘Young Sheldon’ is currently broadcasting its season 6 and already has a renewal agreement for season 7. With this path, the truth is that doubts arise as to whether it will overcome to the main series and its 12 seasons. It wouldn’t make much sense, because the young Sheldon would be older than the Sheldon we met at the beginning of The Big Bang Theory, which would create a fictitious, but canonical space-time conflict, which the protagonists would surely discuss a lot.

For this reason, and because there are many episodes for a prequel, tvline has asked executive producer Steve Holland about the ending. He has said that there were already some reflections on whether to end the series with season 7, but it seems that in the end it will not be so.

We’ve certainly started to talk about it. When you’re in the middle of a season, it’s so difficult that we haven’t had too many in-depth conversations. But now, as we’re getting to the end of Season 6, we’ve started to talk about it more. There are certainly plot points that we know we want to hit next season, and there are certain things where, if it’s the finale versus if it’s just another season, those things might be different. It is not my decision to make it. I don’t think we’ll know for a while, but I don’t think it will affect the first half of Season 7. I think it will play out the same way no matter what. But as we get closer to the end of the season, I think things will be different depending on whether or not this is the final season.

Although the executive goes around the same thing so as not to get his fingers caught, we are left with the fact that the idea of putting an end to the series is already on the minds of the writers. If it is not finally in season 7, it will be rare that it is not in season eight. ‘Young Sheldon’ tells the story of Sheldon Cooper from the time he was 9 years old, growing up as a gifted child in the midst of a conservative and believing family in Texas. Playing the youthful version of him we have Iain Armitage, a youthful version of the popular Jim Parsons character who has made more than one cameo in the series that honors the character that gave him four Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe.

His was the decision to leave ‘The Big Bang Theory’, which brought about the end of the entire series. His co-stars understood him for what he was, the time to try new things after twelve seasons creating one of the most successful sitcoms in television history. However, his involvement, even if anecdotal, with ‘Young Sheldon’ shows that he far from rejects the character who made him famous. But as ‘Young Sheldon’ continues to add seasons that nobody gets confused, it could end up being an early reboot of the original series.
