Marvel: multiverse, Kang, but where does Phase 4 go?

Watching the first five films of Marvel Universe Phase 4, the question arises: Is there a guide at MCU? Where do we take Shang-chi, the Eternals, and Dr. Strange 2? Try to explain.

The following spoils the events from the start of Marvel 4 phase 4, from the release of WandaVision to the release of Dr. Strange in many worlds of madness. Read if you are up to date on all MCU releases.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is now in theaters and the film introduces a new superhero, America Chavez, who has his own history in comics. Moreover, if he learns to master his powers related to the multi-world, we will also see his training at Kamar-Taj, a place dedicated specifically to witches.

Therefore, it is impossible to imagine that by mastering the passage to the multi-world and learning magic, America could become a certain asset to the MCU and possibly even to Dr. Strange when it becomes a version implemented by Benedict Cumberbatch. To die or that the actor decides to abandon the saga.

As we say this, one thing is clear: Marvel is using Phase 4 of its movie world to introduce new characters who are coming to replace those who have already left or are about to die after years of dedicated service at MCU. Past or future movies and series already offer:

– New Doctor Strange: America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez).

– New Hulk: She-Hulk (Tatiana Maslan).

– New Hawkeye: Kate Bishop (Haley Steinfeld).

– New Black Widow: Elena Belova (Florence Pug).

– New Captain Marvel: Kamala Khan (Iman Velani).

– The new Ant-Man: Cassie Lang (Kathryn Newton), who later appears in Stature comics. She is the daughter of Scott Lang and she can really appear in the movie Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023).

– The New Iron Man: Riri Williams (Dominic Thorne, in the upcoming TV series and Black Panther 2).

– New Tori? Without seeing Thor Love And Thunder, it’s too early to say, but Natalie Portman can play the role and the Hemsworth version, who has experienced a lot of drama in recent films, may leave.

Young Avengers version

This next team of Avengers is set to form the Young Avengers (a relatively young team of superheroes) led by several veterans, such as Captain America, played by Anthony Mackie of the Falcon series, and Winter Soldier, Clint Burton or Bruce Banner. In adventure in anticipation of retirement or death.

Note that the entire group of young avengers is made up of women, in contrast to the 2012 Avengers team, which, with one exception, was 100% male. Quite a powerful symbolic act on the part of Marvel who wants to change this image.

However, there are still some old …

– Natalie Portman could have swapped the role of Tori with Chris Hemsworth, which would have allowed the two actors to work on other projects in parallel.

– Bree Larson (Captain Marvel, busy in space) and A new Black Panther translator (busy in Wakanda) can only be interrupted.

– The War Machine and Nick Fury: Tony Stark’s former cousins, in a series of secret invasions, tell us whether they will survive the invasion of Earth by the Scrolls.

– Ant-Man and the Wasp, like Hawkeye and Laura Barton, have a family life that they can prioritize and postpone. Will they be?

The Charge of Avengers: Endgame

– Winter Soldier: No one knows what the future holds for the character at MCU, except that his connection to Sam Wilson in Falcon and Winter Soldier indicates that we will surely learn more about Captain America 4, which is currently under development.

– Scarlett the Magician: In the comics, her children are members of the Young Avengers (Vickan and Speed), but they currently only exist in her mind. Will the multi world give him the right to adopt the children of a dead scarlet witch in another world? How will he return from the events of Doctor Strange 2?

– Benedict Cumberbatch (Dr. Strange), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk) and / or Tom Holland (Spider-Man) may be the team leaders.

… and some “outside”:

Guardians of the Galaxy

Guardians of the Galaxy: Their third solo film will be crucial in understanding who stays and who goes in this group that lives slightly away from the Avengers. This also applies to Adam Warlock, whom we see there in the mask of Will Polter.
– Eternals: The future of this powerful group, as well as within the MCU, is still uncertain.
– Shang-chi: Although Wong contacted him, he was not in Dr. Strange in many worlds of madness. Its future and impact on the MCU is still unknown.

– Loki: The god of evil seems to be limited to his “multifaceted” adventures, which are related to variants and chronology.

– Knight of the Moon (Oscar Isaac): The first season ended without any specific connection to the characters already established in the saga. To be continued.

– Those we have not seen yet, but announced: Blade, Dark Knight, Fantastic Four, Deadpool, X-Men.

New team, but what can you say?

With the gradual arrival of these young heroes and the preoccupation with other themes of the older heroes, Phase 4 patiently prepares the Kang arc in the Young Avengers comics. Indeed, after several skirmishes against the Avengers and a defeat to Captain America, this powerful opponent (already seen in Loki as Jonathan Majors) decides to go and see his past self in order to turn him into an invader.

Kang shares his plans with him, but the teenager is frightened, steals very strong armor to defend himself, and goes to seek refuge with the Avengers, except that they disintegrate (see Comics Avengers: Separation). Ant-Man and Hawkeye are dead (well, well) and the remaining few heroes decide to break up the group of heroes. The teenager, nicknamed the Iron Lad, then finds a new team, the Young Avengers, and together they manage to defeat Kang.

Kang (Jonathan Majors)

But Kang is not dead and gathers terrible allies all over the multiplayer world to defeat the Earth superheroes 616. It is unknown whether the arc prepared by Kevin Feig will go, but he knows he is now At the green light MCU training is possible for the next ten years.

This also explains the fact that Phase 4, from which we have already seen half of the planned films, is missing the big bad guy and the impending danger so far. Marvel prepares the ground, introduces new characters, and arranges Phase 5, which must kill many “old men” and offer an epic aspect that fans have been waiting for in several films.
