Dino says the government is preparing a PL on the regulation of social networks

The Minister of Justice and Public Security, Flávio Dino, said on Monday the 13th that the federal government is working on drafting a bill (PL) to regulate the dissemination of content through social networks. According to the minister, when the project is ready, it will be presented to the President of the Republic, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, and delivered to the National Congress, directly to the deputy Orlando Silva (PCdoB-SP), who is the rapporteur of another PL on the subject .

“First of all, we have already agreed on this, we will deliver it to the rapporteur”, said Dino, in a conference during an event on freedom of expression, at the headquarters of the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV), in Rio, addressing Silva himself, present in the audience.

Jokingly, Dino said the PCdoB lawmaker was “disturbed” by the federal government’s decision to also draft a proposal on the matter. However, the minister said, the opposition would have been annulled by the “agreement” made with Silva and the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), based on the gesture of handing over the executive’s proposal for incorporation .

According to Dino, the main premise of the bill being drafted by the Executive is to make the main social network platforms on the Internet responsible. The idea, the minister said, is to do so with “transparency and audits”.

Dino also defended the definition of some regulatory body, as long as it is done “lightly”, without bureaucracy.

“I have the impression that with the deputy Orlando (Silva) and his colleagues, and then in the Senate, we will find good solutions,” said Dino.

The minister also said that the Federal Supreme Court (STF) will also deliver proposals for the bill already reported by Silva. Present at the event, Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the STF, stated that he will.
