Actors Selton Mello and Matheus Nachtergaele announced the sequence of the Brazilian success after 25 years
One of the most acclaimed productions of the Brazilian film industry, The Auto da Compadecida(2000) will get a sequel after 25 years. The announcement was made by the protagonists Selton Mello It is Matheus Nachtergaelewho will return to the roles of Chicó and João Grilo, on the social networks of H2O Films.
According to the publication, the film is scheduled for 2024 and will be directed by Guel Arraesalso responsible for the first feature, and Flavia Lacerda. The film is based on the play by Ariano Suassunawho passed away in July 2014 after suffering a cardiac arrest.
“Doing Chicó again, alongside João Grilo, is a huge emotion, which I never imagined reliving! Our team is made up of stars, we will make Auto 2 up to the greatness of our chest movie and celebrating the memory of Ariano Suassuna. Brazil expected and deserved this gift”, declared Mello in publication.
“I learned a lot to love Brazil and its clowns in the backlands of Suassuna… in our playful backlands! It is very exciting to meet Chicó and João Grilo again now, 25 years later: may the Silver Wedding of Auto da Compadecida be a celebration and renewal for the heart! Let’s go, Caxangá”, said Nachtergaele.
