Netflix has released the first photos and the premiere date of the second season of ‘Sweet Tooth’. The footage from the return of the hybrids highlights a new character named Maya, played by Amie Donald (the M3GAN of recent tech horror). Check it out below.
Based on the comic books by Jeff Lemire, “Sweet Tooth” presents a story with elements of fairy tale and post-apocalyptic science fiction that director Jim Mickle (“We Are What We Are”) has transformed into a cinematic visual epic.
The plot takes place a decade after the devastation of the planet by an unexplained pandemic and accompanies Gus, a boy with deer antlers, who is part of a new breed of human-animal hybrid children born after the outbreak, all immune to the infection. Pursued by militias, bounty hunters and doomsday cults, he tries to reach a distant refuge with the help of a hostile drifter.
Produced by star Robert Downy Jr. (Marvel’s Iron Man) and his wife Susan Downey, the attraction reunites in its cast the actors Nonso Anozie (“Zoo”), Dania Ramirez (“Once Upon a Time”), Adeel Akhtar ( “Utopia”), Stefania LaVie Owen (“Messiah”) and Christian Convery (“Descendants 3”), as well as veteran James Brolin (“Life in Pieces”), father of Josh Brolin (Thanos), who narrates the episodes.
Once again led by Jim Mickle – showrunner, writer and director of the attraction’s first year -, the series will return with eight more episodes on April 27.
