Shadow and Bone is back! In the second season, Alina (Jessie Mae Lee) discovers that the Dark One (Ben Barnes) is still alive and stronger than ever. Not strong enough to make the Fold disappear, the young woman goes in search of a second booster in hopes of having enough power. For this, he is counting on Mali (Archie Reno) and a new ally in the form of Nikolai Lantsov. This new character, played by Patrick Gibson, is both a very famous corsair… and the son of a king.
Six Crows will also be there, and the team as we know it in the books should finally be formed. Fans finally discover the beloved Whelan (Jack Wolfe) interpreter, an explosives expert who falls under Jesper’s spell (and vice versa)

There are several kingdoms mentioned in Shadow and Bone and it’s not always easy to remember them all. These are the three countries that are regularly mentioned and that are important to understanding the story.
Rivka: The kingdom where the series mainly takes place. It is headed by the Lantsov royal family. There are two armies: one made up of Grishas and one made up of powerless soldiers. Alina and Mal grow up in the village of Keramzin. Os Alta is its capital. It is here that the small palace, the resting place of the Grishas, is located.
in the heart: A small island located on the other side of the shadow fold. Its capital, Caterdam, is known for its crime. Kaz and his team live here. At the end of Season 1, the Six Crows decide to return to Kerch, only to find that Pekka Rollins has taken control of the club and most of the barrel. They are officially wanted criminals.
Fierda: The kingdom is located south of Ravki. These people do not like the Grishas, whom they consider to be witches, they create soldiers, the Druskels, to capture and kill them. Mathias (Callaghan Skogman) is one of them, but he has fallen in love with Nina (Danielle Galligan). Arriving in Kerch, the latter arrests him for his protection, but unknowingly sends him to Hellgate, an illegal prison where violence reigns.
Shuhan: This is a new country that will be introduced in the second season of Shadow and Bone. The six Crows and part of Nikolai’s team go in search of an artifact that can kill dark creatures. A mission that is not part of the novels.
Vocabulary
Grishes: Soldiers of the Second Army. People with abilities called “little science”. There are several types, and they have very specific names: Caporalk (Smelter and Healer), Etherealk (Howlers, Infernals, and Tides), and Materials (Durasts and Alchemy).
Kofta: A long coat worn by Grisha. Color and embroidery vary according to status and power. Only Darkling is black.
Volkras: The name given to the creatures that inhabit the shadow fold. At the end of Season 1, the Dark One summons new creatures from Merzost (an abomination that derives from petty magic) that he calls Nichevoya.
Amplifier: These rare, sometimes mystical items created by Morozova allow Grisha to increase their power. There are three: the deer, the sea dragon, and the fiery one. Alina regains the power of the former and goes in search of the latter in Season 2 of Shadow and Bone.
Shadowfold: The name of a thick mist that crosses the realms. It was created by a dark heretic hundreds of years ago. Only Alina has the power to make it disappear, but to do that the young woman had to find a second booster.
Druskel: Fierda’s soldier was tasked with tracking down Grisha and killing him.
