Tonight on TV: When French cinema transcends fiction

In 2018, four French screenwriters Guillaume Lehmann, Jimmy Bemont, Mathieu Delousieur and Dominique Rocher came up with a rather unusual project in the French cinematic landscape: a dystopian scenario intended for the general public.

Indeed, In the Mist tells the story of a couple’s fight for their survival, and especially their little girl’s, as a strange deadly fog engulfs Paris, forcing the survivors to seek shelter on the upper floors and roofs of buildings. Capital.

Franco-Québec filmmaker Daniel Robb was chosen for this genre-defining North American touch to make this fog-like disaster film.

In the image, the latter achieves an effective harmonization between the authentic Paris – certain streets are recreated as smoky – and the fantastic element of the fog – in addition to the high shots of the ubiquitous set – especially perfectly. He mastered special effects and photography.

Starring Romain Dury and Olga Kurylenko, both convincing and exceptionally invested, Dans la lumière is a true visual and sensory fantasy.
