New cases have occurred in Natal, Mossoró and seven other cities since last night until this Thursday.
Rio Grande do Norte had a third night and dawn of violence with attacks in the capital, Natal, and at least eight other cities this Thursday (16), including Mossoró, in western Rio Grande do Norte and the second largest in the state. The criminal actions are being organized by a faction which has been burning public buildings, businesses and vehicles, according to police.
The attacks took place at dawn and this morning (16) even after the arrival of 100 men from the National Force, who are reinforcing state security. From Tuesday (15) until 6:30 this Thursday, the police arrested 57 suspects and seized 15 weapons, 46 explosive devices and 10 liters of fuel. Attacks have already been recorded in 34 cities.
In the morning, a bus was attacked by criminals in the Guarapes neighborhood in western Natal. The bandits approached the driver and passenger of line 599, ordered them to leave and set the vehicle on fire. The flames also affected electrical cables.
The town hall of Natal has informed that the capital’s bus fleet will be taken to the garages, according to the decision of the union representing the drivers. The operation of urban trains in the capital of Potiguar is suspended by the Companhia Brasileira de Trens Urbanos, after criminals stormed a station in the Nova Natal neighborhood and placed obstacles on the railway line, in several places, even during the night.
Late Wednesday night (15), the criminals set fire to a supermarket in the Novo Amarante neighborhood, in São Gonçalo do Amarante. There are no reports of injuries.
In Natal, criminals also attacked a shed of Urbana – a waste collection company – in the Alecrim neighborhood, which receives tires for recycling. According to witnesses, the attack took place around 11pm. Up until the morning of this Thursday (16th) there were flames in the room.
Also in the capital Potiguar, around 11pm, the criminals attacked a service station on Avenida Tomaz Landim, in the Igapó district, in the north of Natal.
ATTACKS IN INNER CITIES
In Mossoró, the Military Police reported that criminals shot and set fire to a deactivated corporation base at dawn. Firefighters arrived and managed to put out the flames.
Two vehicles were burned in the municipality of São Paulo do Potengi and cars in the municipality of João Câmara were also destroyed by the fires. In Macau, the seafood restaurant building was set on fire and shots were fired in front of the city police station.
Shots were fired at the city council in Caicó, and buses and a forklift were set on fire. In João Câmara, criminals also set fire to the slaughterhouse in the municipality. In Florânia, a school bus was set on fire and a suspect was arrested and taken to the police station.
