Former Bolsonaro minister Anderson Torres testifies on draft coup

Former Minister of Justice, Anderson Torrestestified in the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) this Thursday (16), about the draft coup to void the election result.




According to CNN, this Election Judicial Investigative Action (AIJE) was filed by the PDT and questions an alleged meeting held by the former president, Jair Bolsonaro (PL), with ambassadors, in July 2022. In it, unproved attacks on the electoral system were allegedly carried out.

According to Estadão, even with the authorization to silence, Anderson Torres answered the questions raised. The testimony lasted about 1h30 and was listened to by videoconference. The former justice minister said he was unaware of the authorship of the document.

Torres was heard as a witness in the lawsuit investigating the meeting. The draft coup has been attached as evidence in the case file and the investigation could leave Jair Bolsonaro ineligible.

Federal police found the draft coup after a search and seizure operation at the home of Anderson Torres. The document spoke of a decree for the establishment of a state of defense at the headquarters of the TSE. According to CNN, the goal would be to change the outcome of the 2022 election.
