President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) lamented on social networks the death of the state deputy in Mato Grosso do Sul, Amarildo Cruz (PT), aged 60. He died yesterday afternoon in Campo Grande.
“I am sorry for the early departure of comrade Amarildo Cruz, civil servant, secretary and deputy of the PT in Mato Grosso do Sul. He dedicated his life to defending the environment, workers and fighting for a more just country. My condolences to his family and friends and admirers,” Lula said in today’s Twitter post.
The parliamentarian’s brother reported on Amarildo’s social media that he died after a third cardiac arrest. He had already been hospitalized for four days. Amarildo was a member of the PT for 38 years and served five terms in the State Assembly of Mato Grosso do Sul.
His death was also mourned by PT president Gleisi Hoffmann. “A great loss is the death of Amarildo Cruz, a longtime companion of the PT in Mato Grosso do Sul. As a state deputy, he fought in defense of the environment, racial equality, affordable housing and public health. My condolences to his family and friends, ”he wrote on the networks yesterday.
