Discover the big change in ‘Infernal Possession: Awakening’

Lee Cronin, Director of ‘Infernal Possession: The Awakening’has explained a new and important change for the next film, which we will be able to see in Spain on April 21.

Written and directed by Cronin, ‘Infernal Possession: The Awakening’ is called to be one of the horror movies of this 2023 that will make us scared. Separate from the original trilogy, as well as from the 2013 reboot (by the way, do you know the different endings of the ‘Possession from Hell’ remake?), it follows Lily Sullivan’s character Beth as she visits her sister Ellie and the family of her in the city.

Here lies the main change, the move from the traditional cabin in the woods to an apartment building in Los Angeles.

Speaking to ‘sfx’ about the location change, Cronin said he “wanted to do something new” and that would have turned down the film if it took place in a cabin with the beloved protagonist of the franchise, ash williamsone of the essential characters in the history of cinema.

“As much as I’d say I’ve always wanted to do a ‘Possession from Hell’ movie, if the guys had put a script in front of me and said, ‘Here we go: it’s at the cabin, it’s with Ash,’ I probably would have said that not because I want to tell my own stories. But they didn’t want that either.”

“I am very attracted to the horror of the everyday”says Cronin. “For me, it’s the most beautiful part as a filmmaker, because you get into things that people are very familiar with. Not everyone has spent a weekend in a cabin in the woods with their friends, but at some point everyone has had a sense of home or had their version of a family unit around them.”

On the return of the flesh-possessing demons, Cronin said that he wanted to see them in a new setting.

“Being a fan of these movies, I was like: ‘I want to see Deadites in downtown Los angels, in a family home. How does it look like?’ It seemed like the natural move to me if the goal was to take the franchise to a new place.”
