Four-time Oscar nominee Willem Dafoe has revealed that he would like to return to the Spider-Man universe and play the Green Goblin one more time. The actor gave an interview to Inverse. In the comics, the character Norman Osborn suffers from a split personality, torn between a business scientist and the villainous Green Goblin.
For the first time, the actor reincarnated as a character for the Sam Raimi film “Spider-Man” with Tobey Maguire, the second time – in the new “Spider-Man” with Tom Holland. Defoe said he had “very different experiences” both times and “had a great time”.
If everything was correct, of course. This is a great role. I liked that it’s a dual role in both cases. Twenty years ago and more recently, both times are very different experiences, but I had a good time on both occasions,” the actor shared.
Recently, Raimi’s superhero star Maguire spoke about his first reaction to an offer to star in No Way Home.
They called me and I immediately said that I would come to do it. I was worried because I did not know how it would look now and how I would get experience. But to show off with beautiful, talented, creative people and play together? It’s just like “Yes!”. It’s fun and exciting,” the actor shared in a book about making the film.
Last year Defoe was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. The fact is that in his youth the actor did not manage to graduate from this university – he paid for expensive education on his own, because of which he had to work hard, and as a result, he preferred participation in the theater troupe Theater X to higher humanitarian education.
