Sevilla have already defined Jorge Sampaoli’s replacement in technical command for the remainder of the 2022/23 season. According to the Spanish newspaper “Marca”, José Luis Mendilibar has already met the management and will take over the Andalusian team this week.
Also according to the publication, Mendilibar’s agreement with Sevilla will last until the end of the current season and if the objectives are met, the coach can renew. The situation of the club is far from being the best; the team are 14th in the La Liga standings, with 28 points, just two above the relegation zone.
Sampaoli’s resignation it has not yet been officially announced by the club, but the Argentine has lost credibility due to poor results and does not have the backing of the board’s management. Also according to “Marca”, the players would not be satisfied with some of the coach’s ideas and with the continuous changes to the game system.
