Like My Son on TF1: What happened to Jean-Marie Druet and Ludovic Guitte, the real heroes of the story?

This Monday 20th March at 9.10pm, TF1 broadcasts Like My son, a 90-minute fiction series hosted by Balthazar star Tomer Sisley. For the occasion, the actor plays Victor, a thug who crosses paths with Charlie (Jordan Delasus), a little boy abandoned by his mother. Then he takes her under his wing and takes her with him. Little by little, man and son will learn to become father and son and become inseparable.

Incredibly, Comme mon fils’ screenplay, written by Edgar Marie (Braquo), is adapted from the 2018 autobiographical novel L’enfant de la cavale, which tells the true story of Jean-Marie Drouet. and Ludovic Guittet.

In 1982, Jean-Marie Druet crossed for the first time with a little boy who was then 2 years old. But after several years on the run, their sordid story ended when Jean-Marie was arrested in 1985.

If the latter ends up in prison, Ludovic is placed by social services with his biological mother, who abandoned him a few years earlier.

The relationship between Jean-Marie and Ludovic was so strong that the two friends managed to maintain their relationship despite the distance that separated them.

The very first day he was out, he asked my uncle to come to my mother’s house to see me.“, he confided to our colleagues Entertainment television. “He took me on weekends when he could, as an estranged father.”

What happened to them?

After his release from prison, Jean-Marie Druet led an orderly life, far from the crimes that had plagued his daily life for years. Together with Ludovic, they wrote a novel to tell the story of their adventure. Sadly, Jean-Marie Druet passed away in 2021, before Like my son began filming. So he could never watch a TV movie.

For his part, Ludovic Guittet, now 43 years old, has managed to rebuild his life despite the many hardships he suffered as a child. “I built my life, built my family and rebuilt myself“, he explained to Télé Loisirs.

I still have a deep respect for my biological father and mother despite what they put me through. There is no anger and glory. I had a dual outlet, one through writing and the other through depiction in this fiction. I feel calm today and that’s the most important thing.”
