From the first seconds of Sleeping Village, a policeman gets behind the wheel of a van to transport a criminal. Immediately, an accident occurs, because the driver really fell asleep: the prisoner escapes and becomes a fugitive… Then everything is connected!

There is no time to blink during the first half hour of a TV movie. Many issues are actually standing and intersecting. We also wonder how things will end in the remaining 60 minutes of fiction…

Alongside this escape, we meet Martin, a concerned police officer, and discover that his marriage is on the verge of implosion. In the town where he lives with his wife and son, a strange and disturbing phenomenon occurs: the residents suddenly fall into a deep sleep from which they cannot be brought out.

An expert doctor, Dr. Elise Bertelotti, arrives immediately to find out the cause of this mysterious outbreak of coma. After a while, a hold is put in place… except the murders are now publicly regretted! What links connect these events to each other?

The reasons that caused the natives to fall asleep and the rest of the incidents are vaguely explained. In the second part of the fantasy, everything suddenly changes! Between false politics, damaged ecology and dirty tricks, a health care scandal weaves in parallel with the personal problems of the protagonists.

All of this could have been better proportioned and developed as the story progressed. The story would probably gain some fluidity as we’re sorry to see the pacing run out of steam… too bad. Regardless, the cast’s acting is believable and the production helps to hold the audience at a very intriguing start to the fiction.
