In her professional career, Christina Ricci has been embarrassed to appear in ‘Casper’ due to her poor performance, but when she started acting at the age of 9, she has experienced first-hand the abuse that goes on behind the scenes.
Ricci, who has acted for more than 30 years, now in “Wednesday” and “Yellowjackets,” shares the set with the new generation of actors and believes things have gotten a little better for women in the industry.
In her case, the 43-year-old actress confessed that despite having some fame and recognition, that didn’t stop her from trying to force scenes or things she wasn’t comfortable with behind the scenes.

Christina Ricci almost sued because she refused to film an intimate scene
On the March 17, 2023 episode of “The View” Ricci was in a conversation with her fellow “Yellowjackets” cast members and pointed out how the industry has changed in terms of the deals young actresses get.
Christina Ricci, who feared for her life in her previous marriage, applauded that women in the industry now have the power of choice and are not forced to go through what she and her contemporaries had to endure.
That’s when Ricci gave an example of her experience on a movie (which she wouldn’t name) and confessed that she was threatened with a lawsuit if she refused to record a sex scene that was in the script.
The actress also said that while there seem to be more intimate scenes on screen these days, the fact that studios and productions have intimacy coordinators on set has given actresses more options.
In June 2022, Ricci had a conversation with Sydney Sweeney from “Euphoria” for “Variety” where he shared part of this story, though he did not mention that it was a sex scene.
In the end Richie stated that he remained firm in his decision, he did not make the intimate scene and everything was left only in the threat, because they did not take legal action against him.
