On Wednesday (22), Pope Francis received a group of victims of sexual abuse by religious men in the Paul VI hall at the Vatican, the Catholic newspaper “L’Osservatore Romano” reported on Friday (24) .
The people, accompanied by about ten Comboni Missionaries, met behind closed doors before the traditional general audience in St. Peter’s Square.
“Both groups felt deeply touched by this gesture of welcoming and pastoral listening by the Pope and they experienced a very important moment in their lives”, informs the mast on the basis of the testimonies.
Also present at the meeting was Father Andrew Small, secretary of the Pontifical Commission for the protection of minors, an organization created by the Catholic leader himself in 2013 for the prevention of abuse of all kinds by the clergy and support for victims. .
