More than two decades ago, a film was released that, despite not being well received by critics, was loved by the children of the 2000s. It is ‘Scooby-Doo’, which remains in the memory of many, unlike ‘Velma’ the critically-acclaimed spin-off.
This film is based on the hit cartoon “Scooby Doo, Where Are You?”, had a well-chosen cast, since the actors bore a strong resemblance to the cartoon characters, which was the key to its success.
Starring in this production was Freddie Prinze Jr., who gave life to Fred, the leader and driver of the famous Mystery Machine in 2002 with ‘Scooby Doo’ and in 2004 in the sequel ‘Scooby Doo: Monsters Unleashed’.
Although it was believed that there would be a third part, it apparently never materialized due to the fact that the earnings of the second installment were significantly lower according to the “Movie Web” portal.
The most loyal fans are still asking on the internet for this project to happen and they have it original actors who appeared more than 20 years ago.
Freddie Prinze Jr. wouldn’t be in another live-action ‘Scooby Doo’ movie
On March 18, in an interview with People magazine, when Freddie Prinze Jr. asked if he would want to be in the film if it came to fruition, he said no for very specific reasons.
He added that in his entire acting career he has only regretted being in two projects and “Scooby was one of them”.
Finally, he explained that he didn’t “fully appreciate” “Scooby Doo” until he noticed how much it resonated with young audiences and pop culture.
Fans reacted to Freddie Prinze Jr.’s statement.
His response immediately caused an uproar on the networks, and many netizens expressed how sad they are about the news, as it further reduces the chances of a third ‘Scooby Doo’ installment in the future.
At this time, Sarah Michelle Gellar, the actor’s wife and the woman who brought Daphne to life in the live-action “Scooby Doo” saga, has not commented on her opinion about her return to the set to record the tape.
