In the last week, Globe ended her relationship with expert storyteller Cléber Machado. The announcer, who had worked with the station for 35 years, was the main voice of football broadcasts in São Paulo. His departure has left room for other names to lead the matches on open TV.
According to the investigation of THROW AWAY!, there is still no official position for a specific name that permanently inherits the position. With this, Globo has to rotate the storytellers already working in open TV.
In this way, storytellers such as Gustavo Villani, Renata Silveira, Everaldo Marques, who have already participated in broadcasts on open TV, can take the place left by Cléber Machado.
Gustavo Villani
With more time at the broadcaster among his options, Gustavo Villani arrived at Globo in 2018, after a successful transition through the extinct ‘Fox Sports’. At the age of 41, the narrator is one of the most famous names in Grupo Globo, working mainly on Sportv and Premiere broadcasts.
Known for his many catchphrases, the announcer hosted several matches on Open TV in recent years, as well as the “Segue o Jogo” program, in 2019, before the role was taken by journalist Lucas Gutierrez.
In addition to TV Globo, Villani, as of 2020, is the Brazilian narrator of the electronic game franchise “FIFA”.
Renata Silveira
Hired at the end of 2020, Renata Silveira made her SporTV debut in 2021, in Botafogo’s 5-0 defeat against Moto Club, valid for the Copa do Brasil. In the same year, the narrator became the first woman to command a football broadcast on Globo’s open TV in a women’s Super Cup match between Corinthians and Grêmio.
