Rubro-Negro met their opponents in the group stage on Monday
Defending champions of the Libertadores, Flamengo faces Aucas-EQU, Racing-ARG and Ñublense-CHI in the first phase of the current edition of the tournament. After the draw for the groups last Monday, journalist Vitor Birner nailed that Rubro-Negro is already qualified for the round of 16.
– It is a group in which Flamengo already starts the first classified stage. Flamengo is classified for the last 16 of the Libertadores of America, but the players don’t believe it. They have to play football – commented Birner, on “Linha de Passe”, on ESPN.
Both Aucas and Ñublense make their debuts in the Libertadores, while Racing already won the tournament, in 1967. Flamengo had a bad start to the year, with failures in the Supercopa do Brasil, Recopa Sudamericana, Mundial de Clubes and Taça Guanabara .
Under the coaching of Vítor Pereira, Flamengo have yet to play important games this year and have a chance to win their first title in the coming weeks. Rubro-Negro faces Fluminense in the final of the Carioca Championship, scheduled for next 2 and 9 April.
