This was the unusual (and fun) preparation of the cast of ‘Dragons and Dungeons’ for the film

“We wouldn’t stop yelling at each other, all the time.”

The movie, ‘Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves’, is based on the popular role-playing game with which it shares its name.

Starring Chris Pine, Regé-Jean Page, Michelle Rodriguez, Justice Smith and Sophia Lillis, the film follows a thief and a group of adventurers who come together to carry out a heist and recover a lost relic. However, things soon take a dangerous turn when the group meets the wrong crowd.

How did the actors prepare for their roles? Well, playing the original game, of course!

speaking exclusively with Digital Spy, Smith, Lillis, and Page stated that the cast was fully immersed in the role-playing game, as part of a unique rehearsal process.

We made a game based on the events after the movie. We had to improvise as our character in different circumstances.“Smith commented.

“It’s something that actors don’t do often. But I think it was essential for the performances in the film, because we were able to flesh out these people.“.

It was a fun kind of rehearsal“, added Lillis. “It was very different. We got to know each other, and to be these characters together. It was, in our own way, a way of bringing the characters to life.yes“.

Smith continued: “We yelled at each other all the time when we played that game (and, apparently, this is how it is normally played).

For Page, the idea not only made sense, but it was also a lot of fun.

I really like role-playing games, in general.“, said the actress from ‘The Bridgertons’. “The best thing is that the actors are usually [jugadores de rol]. Because what we do is play roles. That’s our job.”

“So, start playing together before stepping on the set, It was a really fun way to get to know my character.“.

After this, he continued: “I got into character for the first time at the table, playing fantasy with Michelle Rodriguez, Chris Pine, Justice Smith and Sophia Lillis.”

“And about the imagination you have at that table… Never in my life have I been in a more wild, raucous or chaotic game.”

‘Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves’ opens in theaters on March 31.
