Representatives of classical medicine warn enthusiasts against rectal ozone therapy sessions. They are particularly adamant about household appliances for launching charged gas. And it’s not just about how often people end up in hospitals with strange objects in that same hole!
First, official studies of various types of ozone therapy have not shown significant results. Scientists have found no evidence that it works any better than the good old dietary supplements – which, as you know, are much easier to take.
Secondly, the very effect of ozone on the human body is not so favorable, as presented to the sources of alternative medicine. The world renowned United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) calls ozone “Toxic gas”which has no proven benefit in medical applications.
Ozone is considered an unstable substance and is part of smog, which means it can damage the lungs if inhaled. In this regard, it is unlikely to be useful when applied to other areas of the body. At least enough that doctors consider this technique safe and can safely relate to this advice from Gwyneth Paltrow and other adherents of non-standard practices.
