The first episode hinted at a connection between the two series, but now The Mandalorian Season 3 Episode 5 confirms it: Yes, the live-action Star Wars series will feature characters from the Rebels cartoon.
The first episode featured the Purrgils, creatures with the ability to travel at hyperspace speeds, last seen in the final episode of the animated series Star Wars.
But while Rebels takes place in two trilogies, The Mandalorian, on the other hand, follows the plot of Episode 6 (Return of the Jedi). Thus, the history of the two series is separated by several years, but this chronological gap does not prohibit a crossover between the two Star Wars.
And it was for this reason that the iconic character Orelius (or Zeb), one of the main characters of the animated series Star Wars, was able to appear in the third season of The Mandalorian.
A true villain, this Lasath from the planet Lasan decided to join the ranks of the Rebellion following the destruction of this homeworld by the Imperial armies. This marksman, also an expert mechanic, never misses an opportunity to show his courage in the face of danger.
Before that, Ahsoka Tano and Bo-Katan, who also appeared in Rebels, also made their live-action debuts in Season 2 of The Mandalorian. Meanwhile, Ezra Bridger is set to appear in a spin-off dedicated to Ahsoka (so a surprise Jedi appearance in Mandalore Season 3 is not out of the question).
