‘The Batman 2’: This could be the formidable villain Robert Pattinson faces

The sequel to “The Batman” (2022) was officially announced during CinemaCon 2022, an event where Hollywood production companies show their projects to major movie theater owners in the United States.

Since then, fans have been speculating about the next villain Bruce Wayne (played by the acclaimed Robert Pattinson) will have to face, whether it’s Barry Keoghan’s Joker or Colin Farrell’s The Penguin.

Well, according to an article published by Deadline on March 29, 2023, it could be a little-known Batman villain named Clayface or Cara de Barro (in Latin America), who was suggested for a movie version by Mike Flanagan (film director and producer recognized for his work in the horror genre).

Who Is Clayface, The DC Comics Villain Who Could Appear In ‘The Batman 2’?

Clayface’s main feature is that he has a clay body and the ability to change shape, so in Spanish they translated his name to Cara de Barro. Originally created by Bill Finger and Bob Kane for the 1940 Batman comic series ‘Detective Comics’, in issue #40.

The original villain was called Bill Finger and he was a notorious actor who used the alias and even disguised himself from a role he had in a horror movie to start a career as a criminal. For the 1950s, a Clayface with a completely different origin was created, being a treasure hunter named Matt Hagen who got his powers by exposing himself to radioactive material.

While the following Clayfaces (Preston Payne and Sondra Fuller) gained their powers through science and technology, one to cure his degenerative disease and the other for terrorist purposes.

As such, many other characters have been able to take Clayface’s mantle to their advantage in comics, series, or animated films, so based on these origin stories it’s hard to know how Clayface will be used in the Batman narrative.

It’s worth mentioning that although Matt Reeves will once again be in charge of the script for the second part, this is still subject to change, so the plot or official characters (much less the cast) of the film cannot be known for sure . . What is known is the date when filming will begin: November 2022.

Of course, with Reeves’ characteristic narrative style, full of complaints and social criticism, Clayface could be the key to reflecting on the shortcomings of the health system or even terrorism, assuming that the screenwriter was inspired by the latter or third version of evil. .
