In February 2022, Disney+ launched Weekend Family, its first original French production, with Eric Judor dressed for the occasion. Almost a year after it debuted on the American platform, the series airs on free-to-air TV starting Friday, March 31 on TMC.
A sort of French Thirteen by the Dozen, Weekend Family follows the adventures of Fred (Eric Judor), the father of a blended family. His life changes completely when he meets Emmanuelle (Daphne Côté-Hal), a Quebecer who is finishing her thesis in child psychology. Very quickly, a young woman discovers this large family and crosses paths with Fred’s 3 ex-wives.
Created by Baptiste Filleul, who notably worked on Infidèle and Mongeville, Week-end Family’s eight episodes are directed by Pierre-François Martin-Laval (Les Profs 1 and 2) and Sophie Rein (Cigarettes and Hot Chocolate) . Actors Annelies Hesme (Nina), Jean Bourneau (Prise au Piège), Hafid F. Benamari (Plane Tree) and Anabel Lopez (Baron Noir) perform.
Second season for the beginning of April
Last July, just a few months after the release of Season 1, Disney + announced that Family Weekend will have the rights to a second burst of episodes, which will be released on the platform starting Wednesday, April 5.
And for more than a year, the members of this family have grown like no other. Which put Eric Judor’s character in new situations, each more comical than the next.
Season 2, which will be placed under the renewal banner, as Eric Judor confided to the Allociné mic last December, on the day of the release of the special Christmas episode. “We breathed a real sycamore side that gives a breath of fresh air, something very different and less smooth than season 1.”
Catch Week-end Family Season 1 Episode 8 this Friday, March 31 at 9:25 PM on TMC. The series is now available in its entirety on Disney+.
