A 13-year-old teenager is admitted to the Fundação Casa after killing a teacher
The teenager who attacked the Thomazia Montoro school, in Vila Sônia, in the west of São Paulo, on Monday 27, is scared, according to the lawyer Rafaela Dantas.
“He is a child and does not exactly understand the legal effects of his conduct. He did not want to stay in the Casa Foundation”, the 13-year-old’s defender tells the newspaper. Folha de São Paulo. The boy was in the eighth grade of elementary school and stabbed to death the teacher Elisabeth Tenreiro, 71 years old. Five other people were also injured by the teenager.
According to the lawyer, the boy claimed to be the target of bullying and said he was described as “ugly” and a “sewer rat”. Dantas said teachers lack the training to know how to act in episodes like this.
“The issue of bullying must be addressed in schools. Teachers must also be embraced in this cause,” said the defender.
The police had already been alerted for aggressive behavior
The 13-year-old teenager who attacked the school was already exhibiting “suspicious behavior on social media” before the crime. In February, an employee of another educational unit, in Taboão da Serra, filed a police report reporting the situation.
According to the newspaper The globe, at the time of notification to the Civil Police, on February 28 of this year, the boy was studying at the José Roberto Pacheco State School. A short time later, he was transferred to the school where he committed the knife attack.
The case was registered with the 1st police district of Taboão da Serra. The school official told authorities that the student had posted “compromising videos,” “carrying a firearm” and “faking violent attacks.”
Furthermore, he allegedly forwarded “messages and photos of weapons to other students via WhatsApp”, and that some parents felt “assaulted and frightened” by such messages and photos. In response to the complaint, the student’s parents were summoned and a term of six days was granted to carry out the investigations.
On March 15, the teenager was transferred to the Thomazia Montoro school, where the attack took place. Last week, the young man was involved in a fight, which allegedly started after he racially abused a colleague. He called him “monkey” and “mouse”.
The confusion was resolved by teacher Elisabete Tenreiro, 71, the first to be hit by the student. She could not resist the wounds and died. Just before school, she announced on social media that she would carry out the attack. In one of her tweets, she says she has been waiting for this moment “all her life” and hoped to kill at least one person.
