Iconic manga and cartoon Signé Cat’s Eyes, which aired on France 3 in the mid-1980s, will have a “live-action” adaptation by TF1. Cat’s Eyes will begin filming in the fall of 2023.
Adapted from Tsukasa Hojo’s manga, the animated series follows three sisters, Celia, Tam, and Alex, who are restaurant owners by day and thieves by night. Together they stole works of art from their father’s collection, who had mysteriously disappeared, always signing off on the theft by leaving a card.
They had Inspector Quentin Chappuis on their toes leading the investigation, who was none other than Tami’s boyfriend. 40 years after the series ended, Cat’s Eyes returns to the small screen.
For this occasion, it is Alexandre Laurent, who notably worked on Les Combattantes and Le Bazar de la Charité, who will go behind the camera to shoot 8 episodes of 52 minutes each.
Produced by Big Band Story (Benjamin Dupont-Jouben and Mehdi Sabari), this new feature may be co-sponsored with the streaming platform, TF1 said in a press release. If a deal is reached, it would allow the series to travel internationally.
Written by Michelle Katz, Justine Kim-Gauthier, Antonin Martin-Hilbert, Anne-Charlotte Kassab, Colleen Dussault and Audrey Gagney, Cat’s Eyes will return to the origins of the three sisters and their adventures as they have to outwit the robbers. The most beautiful and safe monuments of Paris.
Square: In the year 2023, in the City of Light, Alexia, Tami and Celia are reunited after years of separation. At the same time, a work belonging to their father, who disappeared ten years ago in a mysterious fire at his art gallery, reappears during a prestigious exhibition at the Eiffel Tower.
They then decide to risk everything to steal it, hoping to finally find out what happened to it. Very quickly, the trio finds themselves with Quentin Chappuis, the captain of the BRB, in charge of arresting these new thieves, who continue to elude him. But he doesn’t know that between them lies his lifelong love, Tam…
However, you’ll have to put up with your troubles to discover the series, as it’s not due out until the fall of 2024.
