Tonight on TV: When Gilles Lelouch was a bootlegger

From the mid-2000s, Gilles Lelouch began to make a name for himself in the cinema and expanded his acting palette, in particular, he gave his features to gangsters in several thrillers (The Last Gang, No Guns, No Hate, No Violence, Chamber of the Dead).

In 2009, the actor played the lead role in the thriller Krach: Ervan, the unscrupulous trader. The type of character he would play again two years later, this time through the lens of Cedric Klapisch, in My Piece of the Pie. This is the second time the two men have collaborated, after working together in Paris a few years ago.

For his tenth feature film, the filmmaker looks at the global economic crisis in a bitter chronicle in the form of a spin-off of the famous American romantic comedy Pretty Woman.

Indeed, My Piece of the Pie follows France, a worker and mother from Dunkirk who finds herself unemployed after her factory closes. He finds a job in Paris as a cleaner for Steve, a very attractive and friendly salesman. But France quickly discovers that he is partly responsible for the bankruptcy of his former company…

If he first thought of Romain Durys, his favorite actor, for the main male role, Cédric Klapisch then turned to Gilles Lelouch, who, according to him, was unsympathetic for the role, to say the least. The latter responds here to Karin Viard, equally compelling and committed.

My Piece of Cake by Cédric Klapisch with Karin Viard, Gilles Lelouch, Audrey Lamm…
