    Ridley Scott’s new historical epic already has a release date: ‘Napoléon’ will be released in theaters on November 22 before it broadcasts globally on Apple TV+ at a date yet to be determined. Sony Pictures will partner with the company for theatrical release.

    ‘Napoleon’ stars Joaquin Phoenix as the French emperor and military leader. The ‘Joker’ actor previously teamed up with Scott on the 2000 smash hit, ‘Gladiator’so there is a history between the two in terms of period works and explorations of the path of the warrior.

    The Apple company has been moving more forcefully into the movie space as it looks to bolster its streaming service by raising the profile of its movies. Besides the date set for ‘Napoleon’ is perfect for him to enter just in time for the next awards season.

    According to Variety, the company is interested in spending up to a billion dollars on films that will be released in theaters before landing on the Apple TV + platform. It is not clear how long ‘Napoleon’ will be shown exclusively on the big screen, but it is clear that Sony will take care of the distribution costs.

    Apple will also release ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’, its other expensive historical epic directed by Martin Scorsese, which will hit theaters in October with the help of Paramount Pictures, after passing through the Cannes festival.
