A newborn baby was found abandoned in a garbage can earlier this Monday 3 in Bertioga, on the coast of Sao Paulo. The boy survived after being rescued by a street resident and taken to hospital. The Civil Police are investigating the case.

According to the police informed the Earthan employee of the guardianship council went to the police station and reported that she had been informed by a hospital that the newborn had been abandoned in a rubbish bin in Piazza Vicente Molinari.

The little girl was rescued by a street resident who was walking around the place and he took her for medical treatment to Hospital de Bertioga.

In an interview with the report, the doctor who treated the boy in the hospital, Bruno Chehade Pereira, said that the boy has received all necessary treatment and is stable.

“Around 2 am, a resident of the free zone arrived at the ward with a package in hand and handed it over to the reception staff. When the staff opened [o embrulho] there really was a child in there. He was just born, he had the placenta and everything,” explained the professional.

According to the doctor, the child was immediately taken to the operating room. “We’ve looked into him, we’ve done all the protocols and the baby is fine,” Bruno said.

On social networks, the professional shared a photo together with the medical team who took care of the child’s care, showing everyone enthusiastic about the fact that the boy survived.

“It’s impossible not to get emotional in a situation like this, it’s moments like this that make this profession so special. Another life saved,” the doctor wrote in the post.

The case was registered as exposure or abandonment of a newborn at the Bertioga Police Headquarters and is still being investigated by the Civil Police.
