“Sexy, brave, a sense of dignity…”: Are the Three Musketeers our French superheroes?

This is one of the French films of the year, and it was released on our big screens this Wednesday: The Three Musketeers, the first part, dedicated to D’Artagnan, interpreted by François Civil in Panache! AlloCiné was able to meet the team at the helm of this spectacular film, whose ambition is somewhat reminiscent of a blockbuster, therefore French!

This is a story aimed at a mass audience, so how about being a blockbuster, maybe?“, begins François Civil. For Eva Green (Miled), without hesitation, “OYes, they are superheroes!” and adding: “They have a sense of honor, they are men, they are sexy…

They have a superhero dynamic because they are brave.

We wanted the issues to be believable, realistic and honest. They have a superhero dynamic because they are brave, defy the odds and don’t fear much. But I didn’t want to give them superpowers“- performed by director Martin Burbuloni.

For Louis Garrel, who portrays King Louis XIII, the ambition is to reach a younger audience with a modern version of Dumas’ work: “When I make a film, I always say to myself: I hope adults will like it. The Three Musketeers is a promise of adventure and a complete change of scenery.”

It’s a great epic film with ambitions of its ownVincent Cassel continues. It is a pride to participate in such a production. We know the issues. So when you leave 5 months of preparation and 8 months of shooting to make a film like this, you know you are in for a rare adventure and not to be messed with!“. Romain Duris meanwhile emphasizes the approach”Sincere“on film”Filmed in real environments, be it barns, temples, nature…“.

The film is based on a rhythmic and orderly staging that pays a lot of attention to immersion in its action scenes and in particular the scene shot in the forest which is meant to haunt you. Its director, Martin Bourbulon, wanted to create the feeling that we are living the action scenes, as he explains in our video interview above.
