Mechanic Fabio Junior Hrenzer Santos, 42, told the newspaper The globe details of the conversation he had with his 5-year-old son, who survived the attack at Creche Cantinho Bom Pasto, in Blumenau, Santa Catarina. The boy, whose identity has not been revealed, said a “bad man” entered the school and attacked him.

“My boyfriend was a hero. Even if he was wounded, he ran away. He said: ‘Dad, a bad man punched me, I don’t know why, and the teacher told me to run'”, says Fabio. The mechanic pointed out that the parents were discouraged by the psychologist not to relive the moment of the attack with their children, but the boy made the complaint spontaneously.

The child was shot in the face, but had no vital areas affected and was also discharged this Thursday 6, along with four other injured children. They were admitted to the Santo Antônio hospital.

Fear reigns among the surviving children. According to Fabio, all parents report that they don’t want to go back to school. “We know that the problem is not the place, because all the teachers and the director are very loving people, who take great care of the children, but the children still don’t understand. It’s too sad. We need security strengthening in schools” , consider.

Also this Thursday, the mayor of Blumenau, Mario Hildebrandt, announced measures to strengthen safety in schools. The city hall said it was “trying with the Santa Catarina government to hire retired military police officers from the reserve for armed security in the units.” The municipality is also considering hiring private armed guards.

The measures were announced after meetings with the civil and military police, the public prosecutor and the fire brigade. City says it is still reviewing the masonry and fencing of the units; improve the control and access of people in schools and educational centers of the municipal network; install cameras in all units; prepare a contingency plan by the Secretary of Civil Protection and the Secretary of Education; and expand multidisciplinary teams, with psychologists and social workers.
