James Mangold confirmed this Friday, April 7, that he will be writing the screenplay Swamp thingDC Comics’ The Swamp Thing, which will be adapted into the DC Universe, under the supervision of James Gunn and Peter Safran.
At Star Wars Celebration Europe in London, it was revealed that Mangold will direct one of three new films set in the Star Wars universe. Star Wars for Lucasfilm and Disney, which were announced today.
Also, during an interview with Steve Weintraub of colliderat the event, he confirmed he’s working on it Swamp monstercreating the script for the films of Star Wars and DC Studios at the same time. When asked which of the two films will come out first, Mangold said he doesn’t know, but has currently provided details on DC’s project.

The interview also yielded another James Gunn comment on social media about the film. “Naturally, when we started charting the course for DCU, one of the first people I spoke to was the super talented James Mangold about writing and directing his passion project. Swamp monster,” Gunn said in the tweet below.

Swamp monster was announced and detailed by Gunn and Safran in January, as an exploration of the “dark origins” of the character, formerly known as the brilliant scientist Alex Olsen. The film is expected to explore supernatural horror elements of the character who is a fan favorite in the comics.
With Mangold’s confirmation, there is great expectation around the production of Swamp monster and how the director will approach the character.
There’s no confirmation of a release window for the DC film, nor for Mangold’s project Star Wars. The director’s next project to hit the big screen will be Indiana Jones and the Relic of Destinywhich will premiere in Brazilian theaters on June 29, 2023.

The story of Swamp Thing centers around a scientist who has an accident in his laboratory and falls into a swamp. His biology merges with the vegetation and he becomes the Swamp Thing, a creature with supernatural abilities such as the ability to regenerate and control the plants around him.
Over the years, the Swamp Thing has been portrayed as an anti-hero who battles supernatural threats and protects nature. The character has also had television and film adaptations, including a TV series in the 1990s and a film in 1982.
