It was while in prison that Navel Madani got the idea to write her first series to tell a story centered around a group of women who have to manage a crisis situation. When he began to imagine and write with Simon Jablonka (Engrenages), the project was then called Bando. Netflix bets on it and production begins.
As the writing progressed, the series then took on various titles. until you select “so far so good”. An answer that we indirectly associate with La Haine, the must-see 1995 film about urban fires, and which would make sense in this case, as the ore series also takes place in the heart of a disadvantaged neighborhood.
When asked about this, the actor and his partner in the city, Jibril Zonga, told us a little story about the choice of this title:
“The title was almost “It’s gonna be alright”. Oumar’s character says this several times in the series. Almost every day on the set, my husband told me: “Every day is enough.” Listen to me, everything is fine so far.” That’s what he told me every time I was stressed. I really like this sentence. He can be threatening, and above all, we expect the worst when we hear it, because you know it’s bullshit afterwards. So he found her. But yes, it’s towards La Haine because she rocked our youth. We are proud to pay tribute to this iconic film.”
In So Far So Good, Nowell Madan plays a journalist whose life is thrown into chaos when he helps his brother evade the police and puts his family in danger of drug dealing. Season 1 consists of 8 episodes that will be available on Netflix.
