Will Chris Evans be Captain America again? this is what he thinks about his return

After ‘Lightyear’ and radically changing his look to become a villain in ‘The Gray Man’, Chris Evans has finally managed to escape the MCU a bit and venture into other projects.

But even so, the shadow of Captain America follows him everywhere, and fans and the media keep asking him if he’d be willing to play Steve Rogers again in the MCU.

Now Evans has answered the rumors and fans’ wishes, because when he appeared at the Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo on April 3, 2023, the 41-year-old actor said that there is still a lot to say about Steve Rogers.

“It’s hard, because look, I really like this role. It means a lot to me and I care a lot. I think there are more Steve Rogers stories to be told, for sure. But at the same time, I’m very, very careful about it… It’s like this shiny little thing that I have that I love so much, and I just don’t want to mess it up in any way, and it was a part of something that was so special, for a period of time , special and, in a way, very well received.”

However, his answer won’t leave his fans very satisfied or happy, because he also mentioned that despite the love and desire he has to return, he feels it wouldn’t be right and the character’s legacy would be ruined.

“As much as I’m connected to this role and I love telling these stories and working with these people, it just doesn’t feel right (to return) at this point.”

Chris Evans first played Steve Rogers in 2011’s ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’ and his story ended in 2019’s ‘Avengers: Endgame’ where Rogers retires to live as a normal man.

Within the MCU it is known that Rogers returned to the past to live with Peggy Carter and they grew old together. Today Rogers is old and came out of retirement only to hand over his shield to Sam Wilson.

Although it has been rumored that he could appear as this old version of Rogers in ‘Captain America: New World Order’, it has also been said that his return would not be until the end of the Multiverse Saga.

According to Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios, “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty” and “Avengers: Secret Wars” will be the most ambitious Marvel movies and will have a large number of variations of heroes and villains.

In one of these Avengers movies is where Chris Evans could reappear with a cameo playing Captain America from another universe and join the heroes to defeat Kang and his variants.
