Fortaleza announced this Wednesday the renewal of striker Thiago Galhardo’s contract until December 2025. The previous contract was valid until the end of 2024.
One of the reasons for this extension was the player’s desire to end his career in two years, as revealed by the president of Fortaleza, Marcelo Paz.
“He is an athlete who since arriving at Fortaleza has been very sincere, transparent in his communications. He said he wanted to end his career on December 31, 2025 and his contract was until the end of 2024,” he said.
Galhardo joined Leão in June 2022 and has since racked up 45 games, 18 goals and 5 assists. In this current season, the striker has 24 games, 11 balls in the net and three assists. For the team he won the Cearense championship.
“This year too he continues with good numbers, he’s an athlete who I understand is on the top shelf of Brazilian football strikers. So it’s important to have him in Fortaleza, he has several virtues as a striker, he can also play a little behind there, he wears the shirt number 9 and continues very well, he has no history of injuries, he has a lot of ambition to play, to score goals and we need this type of athlete, who, together with the objective club, always thinks of something big,” concluded the representative .
Before joining Leão do Pici, he played for teams such as Ceará, Vasco, Internacional, in Brazil, and Celta de Vigo, in Spain.
The team commanded by Vojvoda makes its debut in Brasileirão 2023 this Saturday, when it will face Internacional, at the Castelão Arena, at 18:30 (from Brasilia).
