MicroProse has announced that Darkenstein 3D, a fast-paced retro shooter inspired by games like Wolfenstein 3D and DOOM, is now available for free on Steam.
Created by a single developer as a love letter to the golden age of shooters, Darkenstein 3D brings back everything fans missed in ’90s FPS: fast-paced movement, precise gunplay, secrets hidden around every corner, and explosions that do the genre justice.

In the game you play as Hobo Guy, an angry drifter trapped behind enemy lines in 1940s Germany. Your mission: Gun your way through 13 hand-crafted levels, eliminate waves of Axis soldiers, uncover alien conspiracies, and rescue your kidnapped dog, Gunther.
Armed with rifles, explosives and pure rage, you’ll fight through castles, bunkers and secret laboratories, all covered in blood, debris and the deafening sound of gunfire.
