Javier Botet is Dracula in the adaptation of the captain’s diary of the last voyage of the Demeter, the ship that transports the vampire in Bram Stoker’s book
Universal took advantage of the release of ‘Renfield’, where Nicolas Cage plays Dracula in what could be considered a comedic sequel to Bela Lugosi’s 1931 vampire classic, to release the first trailer for ‘The Last Voyage of the Demeter’, the film that adapts the diary of the captain of the ship that transports Dracula to London in the novel by Bram Stoker.
In the original 1897 book, the Demeter is a Russian sailing ship hired by Dracula to transport him from his home country of Wallachia to England. The crew doesn’t know they have the Vampire Lord on board, but once the Demeter’s sailors begin to disappear one by one, the captain becomes convinced that an evil force lurks on the ship.
Although the story of Demeter occupies only one chapter in the novel, André Øvredal (‘The Autopsy of Jane Doe’) will adapt the terrifying journey of the ship into one of the most anticipated horror movies of 2023.
