Elijah Wood “surprised” by announcement of new ‘Lord of the Rings’ movies

The actor has shown his position on everything that is to come from Middle Earth.

    Elijah Wood has admitted he was “shocked” by the agreement by Warner and New Line to produce more ‘Lord of the Rings’ movies.

    An animated prequel to Tolkien’s original trilogy is currently in the works, titled ‘The War of the Rohirrim’while Season 2 of ‘The Rings of Power’ It is in the production phase.

    Wood, who played Frodo Baggins in the ‘Lord of the Rings’ films, considered some of the greatest fantasy films in movie history, recently spoke with ‘GQ’ about his reaction to Warner Bros.’s announcement of a new series of Middle-earth films.

    “I am fascinated and excited. I hope they are good”said.

    The actor then admitted, “I’m surprised…I don’t know why I’m surprised because of course there would be more movies.”

    Wood did not address whether or not he would be interested in returning as Frodo, but his former co-star Andy Serkis has hinted that he is more than willing to play Gollum again.

    “The producers Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens are a kind of second family that I have been part of and with whom I have made many films,” explained the actor in the ‘BroBible’s Post-Credit Podcast’before reprising his role as Alfred in ‘The Batman 2’.

    “And let me tell you, they are the best and most amazing people to work with. I think there are many other potential Middle-earth projects that could come up.and if they are, of course I would jump at the chance to rekindle that relationship… middle earth has never left me“.

    Jackson and his team have already said they would be closely following the development of these new ‘Lord of the Rings’ films by Warner Bros., but they are not officially linked yet.
