If you were one of those who eagerly await a preview of Bad The film stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande in full witchy attire as Elphaba and Glinda, director Jon M. Chu took to Instagram to offer the first official images. We wouldn’t say these are the clearest pictures, but that’s all part of the two-part tease. To take a look at:
Bad, in case you didn’t already know, is originally based on the novel by Gregory Maguire, which tells the untold story of Galinda and Elphaba, the witches of the Wizard of Oz. The film is presented by stage book author Winnie Holzman and Academy Award-winning composer and lyricist Stephen Schwartz.
Elphaba of Erivo is the young witch who would become the infamous Wicked Witch of the West, but is seriously misunderstood. Meanwhile, Grande plays the ambitious and popular Glinda (slightly changing her name).
The cast also includes Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero, Jeff Goldblum as Magician, Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible and Ethan Slater as Boq.
The first film is scheduled for November 29, 2024 and the second for December 25, 2025. Good news!
