Netflix’s second live event didn’t go as planned. The reality show cast reunion blind marriage from the United States would have had a live Sunday evening (16), but it was not broadcast due to technical problems not detailed by the streaming company.
Netflix technical problems
After the incident, the streaming company tweeted an apology to fans of the series and assured that the program would be available soon.
To all of you who stayed up late, got up early, gave up on a Sunday afternoon…we are very sorry that the Love is Blind live reunion didn’t go as planned. We’re filming it right now and will put it on Netflix as soon as humanly possible. Again, thanks and sorry.

Live broadcast
The streaming failure comes amid a bid by Netflix to push live programming to the platform, which has more than 230 million subscribers worldwide.
It is the second time that the company organizes an event of this type; the first, a stand-up show by comedian Chris Rock performed in March, went off without a hitch. Going forward, the company intends to use the live feature film to stimulate the film industry’s awards season: In 2024, Netflix will broadcast the Screen Actors Guild Awards in real time, the awards of the actors’ union.
Thus, the company diversifies its content and faces competition from other streams, as well as getting ready to explore other styles, such as sports.
Netflix perspective
The error occurred days before Netflix’s first quarter earnings report, which is due out this Tuesday afternoon (18).
While the company didn’t comment on the event itself, co-CEO Ted Sarandos said on a January earnings conference call that “there’s nothing particularly new about live television” and that the platform is looking into how to “create live excitement for those things that are extraordinarily most exciting to experience”.
competition
Rival companies soon took the opportunity to make fun of Netflix.
BravoTV tweeted that “we will never keep you guys waiting for a meeting” and video store Blockbuster responded to the stream “Remember to rent vhs from us. You can start it on time, no problem… Here’s what we have”.
