HBO has released a new trailer for The Idol from Euphoria creator Sam Levinson. The main roles in the show were played by Lily-Rose Depp and the popular musician The Weeknd. The scandalous project promises to be even more outspoken than Euphoria. Its premiere is scheduled for June 4th.
The trailer features Britney Spears’ song “Gimme More” and Lily-Rose Depp’s character dances in skimpy outfits. The series tells the story of young pop singer Jocelyn, who is at the beginning of her musical career, and her difficult relationship with nightclub owner and producer Tedros, who is also the spiritual leader of a closed cult. The series also stars Troy Sivan, Susanna Sohn, Dan Levy, Hank Azaria, Eli Roth and many more.
The release dates of the project were constantly postponed: initially it was supposed to be released last fall. Earlier, the media reported on the constant conflicts that arose on the set of the show. So, director Sam Levinson, who was not present at the beginning of filming because of the work on “Euphoria”, wanted to redo all the material filmed without him. He then contributed additional explicit scenes.
According to insiders, the series has turned into “adult films with torture”, and almost nothing remains of the original idea. The show will be shown for the first time at the Cannes Film Festival. The film screening will take place from 16 to 27 May. How many episodes of the six-episode show will viewers see — unknown. The creators are debating whether to show the third series, which ends with an important plot twist.
