Prime Video has an original new feature and hopes to revolutionize the world of streaming

There is fierce competition among streaming platforms to offer the best experience to subscribers. If Netflix largely leads the game by regularly rolling out features, Prime Video is about to gain ground with its latest innovation.

The SVOD giant’s observation is this: Can’t understand what the characters are saying well enough and don’t want to fiddle with your TV settings to adjust the volume? Thanks to a feature called Dialogue Boost, you have the ability to increase the pitch of the voice. Currently, this news is only offered on certain original titles on the platform – like Jack Ryan – and only on VO. You can choose three sound levels: low (low), medium (medium) and high (high).

AlloCiné tested the three options offered and it’s clear that we can’t see a difference (with and without headphones). A tool that can still be improved, therefore, and that should prove its worth. But if Prime Video follows through on the idea, the feature could be a bit of a revolution for hearing-impaired viewers.

It remains to be seen if this Dialogue Boost will not hamper the rest, as the TV series or movie scene does not stop at dialogues alone. Ambient sound and mixing are also important.

And are you for or against this feature?
