Drops of GodWhat is it about?

The world of gastronomy and savoir-faire mourns: Alexandre Léger, creator of the famous Léger wine guide and a guardian figure in oenology, has died recently at the age of 60 at his home in Tokyo. He is survived by a 29-year-old daughter, Camille, who lives in Paris. A young woman goes to Tokyo. While reading the will, he discovers that his father has amassed the world’s largest wine collection. In addition to claiming this inheritance, Camille will have to meet a young and brilliant oenologist, Tomin Isse (also 29), whom Alexander trained and whom he describes in his will as his “spiritual son”.

AlloCiné: The first thing people ask themselves is, is wine knowledge worth watching?

Flower bud : No, I don’t think so. This series is exactly like a manga, it is very didactic, so you learn by watching. The director himself had no knowledge of wine at all. This is not a problem at all, and on the contrary, it allows you to discover other things.

Tomohisa Yamashita : It’s really a world that lets you get to know wine through the main character. We learn through it.

True, there is a small educational side. I imagine you took lessons with an expert?

Tomohisa Yamashita: Indeed, we had a sommelier on the set who shared his knowledge with us. So we made sure to be as fair as possible without making mistakes. So, thanks to this professional, we were able to shoot with confidence.

Flower bouquet: We have a little training from Sébastien Pradal – a famous sommelier – who was also a writing consultant. It gave us a foundation because it’s a very, very big world. He taught us how to hold a glass, taste wine and its various stages. We also talked about the history of wine and touched on what enology can be.

In the manga, Tomin Issei’s character is arrogant, but you play the character with great restraint. was it your choice

Tomohisa Yamashita: I really respected the script that was offered to me. I find it always very difficult to adapt a manga into a TV series. But for my part, I tried to keep that kind of philosophy found in the original version, while being as faithful to the script as possible.

Something I didn’t expect about your character, Fleur. He is very funny… but in spite of himself!

Flower bouquet: (laughs) Yes, it’s true, it’s funny! It is actually raw. He has no filter, so these emotions come out like that. He makes thoughts that escape him. So funny situations were created. This is what makes him get into difficult or funny situations at his expense.

Les Gouttes de Dieu is 44 volumes and has sold millions of manga worldwide. The ambition is to do a few seasons, I imagine?

Tomohisa Yamashita: Yes, we wish we could develop the characters further. But obviously, it’s not up to us.
