Google Messages releases end-to-end encryption for Groups

Users report that Google Messages now supports end-to-end encryption for group conversations

End-to-end encryption for group chats has arrived for more Google Messages users, according to user reports. Present in the main messengers, such as Whatsapp AND telegramthis technology ensures that messages can only be read on the sender’s and recipient’s mobile phones.

A end-to-end encryption began rolling out in June 2021 and, in December 2022, the Google promised to extend the functionality to group chats. Finally, the time seems to have come for version 20230329_00_RC01.phone_dynamic of the messenger for Android.

Encryption protection is a complex feature, so it is unique to RCS protocol conversations. Therefore, the feature will only include conversations between Android users, as iMessage doesn’t support RCS on iPhone.

Until now, the Google did not announce the final release of the novelty. However, the distribution appears to have been global. The update is expected to roll out gradually over play store.
