Raspadori scored the goal of the Neapolitan triumph already in stoppage time
This Sunday afternoon Napoli beat the Juventus for 1-0 at the Allianz Stadium, in a match valid for the 31st round of Italian championship. Already in stoppage time, Raspadori scored the winning goal after crossing Elmas and gave the Neapolitans a great chance to win the tournament in the next round.
With the victory, Napoli have reached 78 points and are more leaders than ever. Luciano Spalletti’s team are 17 points clear of second-placed Lazio with just 21 points up for grabs. Juve, on the other hand, stopped at 59 points, in third place, and are still fighting for a place in the next samples.
NO EMOTIONS
The first stage was very eventful, but with little dangerous chance creation. Both teams bet a lot on crosses, with more success for defences. Kvaratskhelia was the most active from Napoli in the creation and had a good opportunity, heading the intervention of Szczesny. On the black and white side, the most dangerous action was that of the Polish Milik, who invaded the area and tested Meret’s good defense.
NAPLES CLOSES
The second half was a little more one-sided. Juventus went down on the lines and withdrew their players, allowing Napoli to close in search of the first goal. Osimhen, who didn’t finish in the first half, appeared on two dangerous occasions. First, blocking the area, he turns around, clears the line and hits the crossbar. Immediately after, in a corner, he goes up more than the marking and deflects strongly, but in the middle of the goal, for a good defense by Szczesny.
VAR TO DI MARIA
Massimiliano Allegri’s quick game strategy paid off in the 83rd minute. Di MarĂa was thrown into an open field after a defensive recovery on the edge of the area and was in legal condition. The Argentine had the coolness to dominate, leave his mark and conclude. He deflected and dead ball in the back of the goal, running away from Meret. However, the referee disallowed the Old Lady’s goal due to a foul by Milik at the time of the tackle and threw a bucket of cold water on the Allianz Stadium party. Vlahovic also went on goal, a few minutes later, but Chiesa had already started with the ball from the back line on the cross.
IN THE BASIN OF SOULS
Napoli sought the winning goal based on strength. Zielinski managed to create a good move and opened for Elmas down the right. The cross falls on the far post and the scorer Osimhen shoots all the marking on the near post. Raspadori, with a lot of freedom, finished strong, without chances for Szczesny, scoring the Neapolitan winning goal and leaving the team just five points away from the Italian title, which would have ended a 33-year fast.
Juve are now back on the field on Wednesday, at 4pm, facing Inter Milan for the semi-final of the Italian Cup. Napoli’s next engagement is at Salernitana, next Saturday, for the Italian. To be champions, the team must beat Granata and hope that Lazio don’t beat Inter the next day.
