Russo brothers love James Gunn, but won’t direct DCU’s Batman

Joe and Anthony Russo are no strangers to making big-budget superhero movies, but if there’s one project the Infinity War and Endgame directors aren’t interested in, it’s a Batman movie!

As ComingSoon recalls, there were recently rumors online that the duo wanted to make a Batman movie — rumors that came after the brothers were interviewed by Comicbook.com, revealing that Batman was one of their favorite characters.

However, when asked about it by Fandango at a red carpet event, the pair clarified the situation by saying that directing a Batman movie was something they would “never, ever” do. However, they have made it clear that they “admire” DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn and would be happy to work with him.

We love James, we adore himJoe Russo said. “We support everything he does there, we’d love to work with him anytime – it won’t be on Batman.

Joe and Anthony Russo then added that when asked who their favorite DC character is, they usually try to think of a funnier or more unusual character, but the only name that comes up every time is Batman.

Anyway, it looks like we’re not ready to see a Dark Knight movie signed by the Russo brothers. Who will direct The Brave And The Bold, DC’s next Batman movie (separate from Matt Reeves’ Batman universe)? Only the future will tell.
